Daisy Bouquets

A flower with a childhood rhyme

Polish children grow up plucking daisy petals to the rhyme "kocha, lubi, szanuje, nie chce, nie dba, żartuje": loves me, likes me, respects me, doesn't want me, doesn't care, is joking. That is why daisies make people smile and work where roses would feel too serious. They suit a thank-you, a teenager's birthday, a neighbor or someone who needs cheering up while ill, as on our get well page. White daisies with greenery look fresh and light, and alongside other flowers they give a bouquet a relaxed, garden feel. Paired with blue cornflowers and grasses, they recall a Polish meadow in July.

Care

Daisies are among the longer-lasting cut flowers and, looked after, can stay fresh for over a week. Strip the leaves from the lower stems, as they quickly spoil the water, and change it regularly. A cooler spot keeps them going longer. If you like this relaxed style, see seasonal bouquets too.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between margaretki and stokrotki?

Both translate as daisies. Stokrotki are the tiny lawn daisies, rarely used in bouquets. Margaretki are larger, long-stemmed and hold up well once cut, so they are the ones florists use.

Are daisies a good choice for a date?

Yes, especially early on. They are unpretentious and cheerful, without the weight of a grand declaration that red roses carry, and still show you were thinking of the person.
