Anniversary Flowers

An anniversary belongs to the two of you. Flowers that arrive at a planned time, with a few words of your own, are a reminder of where it all started.
Roses or something more personal
Red roses are the anniversary classic, and there is nothing wrong with that. If you send the same thing every year, though, try flowers that mean something to you both: a variety from the wedding bouquet, your partner's favorite color, or whatever blooms in the month you married. A June couple will appreciate peonies in a vase, a winter one amaryllis, a spring one tulips. For a quiet evening at home, roses in a box need no vase at all.
You can send the flowers home or to your partner's workplace. At the office they impress the whole team; at home they wait for your evening together. And if you are apart on the day, a bouquet with a card is a way of being there despite the distance.
A popular custom is one rose for every year together. If that gives an even number, many florists add one more, keeping to the Polish rule of odd numbers for happy occasions.
Silver and golden weddings
Some anniversaries have names in Poland: the 25th is srebrne gody, the silver wedding, and the 50th is złote gody, the golden wedding. Children and grandchildren often send flowers for these. If you are sending flowers to Polish in-laws or friends, nod to the name: white with silvery foliage for the 25th, warm cream and yellow for the 50th. Your own parents' or grandparents' anniversary is easy to forget, yet it often means a lot to them; a modest bouquet from the children says their story matters to the whole family.
Never miss the date
Save your wedding day, engagement or the day you first met under Important dates in your account. Reminders arrive by email or in the app, on the day or up to two weeks ahead, every year. When ordering, you pick both the day and a delivery window, so you can time the flowers for when your partner is home. For more ideas, see love and romance.
Frequently asked questions
How many roses should I give for an anniversary?
Many people give one rose per year together. If the number is even, add one, because even numbers are reserved for funerals in Poland. For a long marriage, a big, dense bouquet replaces the counting.
What should I send for a silver or golden wedding?
An elegant bouquet in colors that echo the anniversary, or an orchid that will keep flowering long after the party. The couple will usually be older, so keep the number of flowers odd and avoid chrysanthemums, which are linked with graves.
My partner doesn't like roses. What else works?
Choose flowers linked to your story or the season: peonies in June, tulips in spring, dahlias in late summer. An orchid or a box of mixed flowers is another good option.
