A lighter alternative to roses in a box

In mixed boxes the florist combines roses with other flowers, for example carnations, lisianthus, hydrangea or greenery. The effect is lighter and more natural than a box filled only with roses. It is also a good choice when you do not know someone's favorite color: several flowers and shades lower the risk of getting it wrong. It is a handy gift for the office, for your mother, for a birthday or for someone recovering in hospital, where nobody has to find a vase.

Care

The flowers sit in floral foam that has to stay moist. On sunny days keep the box away from the window, as foam dries out faster in a warm room. Every day or two, test it with a finger and, if it is dry, add a little water around the edge. Different flowers fade at different speeds, so you can carefully pull out the first ones to wilt to keep the arrangement looking fresh. More arrangements are in flower boxes.

Frequently asked questions

Can the box be reused?

Yes. Once the flowers are over, take out the foam, and a sturdy box makes a good container for odds and ends. A small, practical reminder of the gift.

Do flowers in a box have a scent?

It depends on the flowers. Most used in these arrangements have a gentle scent. If fragrance matters, for example in hospital or for someone with allergies, check the contents in the product description.
